Off-Campus access to library-licensed e-Journals, research databases and e-resources is limited to current Coe students, staff, and faculty.
To access most databases and ejournals from off-campus you must log in through the proxy server with your network login (the same information used to login to the computers, but not necessarily your email). You must be a current student, faculty, or staff member of Coe College.
If you need assistance, call Elizabeth Hoover de Galvez at 319-399-8017 or email email@example.com.
Why is a proxy server needed? How does it work?
Most of the databases and ejournals provided by Stewart Memorial Library are on the Web but are not free. We purchase access to them from companies. Our agreements with them limit access to current Coe students, faculty, and staff. If you are not on the Coe campuses, the companies do not know that you are affiliated with the college, so you are denied access.
If you don't log in before you begin, you should be presented with the proxy login screen at whatever point you would need to log in when using the Library website from off-campus. You should not be challenged again for your ID and password - until you turn off your computer, or close your browser.
