- The Coe College Elementary Honor Bands are open to students in grades 4, 5, and 6.
- The Coe College Junior Honor Band is open to students in grades 6, 7, and 8.
- The Coe College Senior Honor Band is open to students in grades 9 through 12.
Based on the nominations, a committee at Coe College will select the bands: two Elementary Honor Bands (approximately 110 members each), one Junior Honor Band and one Senior Honor Band (approximately 90 members each). 6th grade students may be nominated for either the Elementary Honor Band or the Junior Honor Band and 8th grade students may be considered for the Senior Honor Band. Every school submitting nominations will have at least one student selected.

In addition to working with Robert Sheldon, students selected for the 12th Annual Coe College Elementary Honor Band will rehearse with Mary Bunn, longtime band director at Wilson Middle School in Cedar Rapids. The Coe College Junior Honor Band will be directed by Steve Shanley and the Coe College Senior Honor Band will be directed by Dr. William S. Carson.
There is a $12.00 registration fee for students selected to the Elementary Honor Band and a $25.00 fee for students selected to the Junior and Senior Honor Bands. This fee will include dinner for the Junior and Senior Honor Band on April 12, and lunch for the Elementary Honor Bands on April 18.
All Honor Band participants will have an opportunity to get complimentary tickets to the Coe College Concert Band and Wind Ensemble performance on Saturday, April 18, at 8:00 pm, with guest conductor Robert Sheldon.
Concert tickets for the Elementary Honor Bands should be ordered in advance by emailing Chelsea Dunn - firstname.lastname@example.org - no later than April 1:
